This is a true story of a boy growing up in Wyoming around the oil fields. It is funny, sad and uplifting; but it should also make you angry about the conditions in the oil fields. Short, quick read, definitely worth it.
I enjoyed this book. I have read other books by this author and enjoyed them also. This is a true story telling about Colton from the time he was a small boy. Telling about his adventures while growing up and how he became the man that he was. The end was not what I expected but of course being a true story it had to be the way it was. If you like true stories about other peoples lives you will enjoy this one.
This was a selection for my book club, so not something I would have chosen on my own. I thought it was well written and has some particularly beautiful lines. However the whole time I was reading it, I was asking myself "Why am I reading about this guy?" and I still don't know the answer. Yes, it's a tragic story but I never felt particularly invested in Colton's life. I felt like it was a generally superficial/brief telling of the story that perhaps could have had more depth to get me more interested.
