He's a Scottish Laird and a dragon shifter currently living in London. She was born poor and has pulled herself up from her humble beginnings to become secretary for a professor of antiquities. Stephan and Mina meet when he comes to warn the professor of ensuing danger. Trying to determine if Stephan is honorable and will not harm her employer, Mina has finagled tea with his cook at his home. Fearsome shadows form and injure the cook, and Mina runs through the house searching for escape and is saved by a dragon. She becomes Stephan's secretary so he can ensure she does not spill the beans or dragon in this case. Enjoyable how her irreverent attitude and humor begin to soften his gentleman's arrogance. Enjoyable.
