One of the most beautifully illustrated books I've seen. Glorious pictures accompany a sweet story all too close to home for many of us. (The "unknown binding" is paperback.)
A terrific book if you have a late bloomer in any way -- talker, writer, drawer, etc, or a child who feels like s/he lags behind her peers. The illustrations are witty, beautiful, and not babyish. This is not a book that simply tries to make a child feel good about him or herself, but a book that celebrates the fact that many children are on their own developmental path, finding their own way in a world where those around them worry about not being "normal."
