I've enjoyed all of Raphael's Hoffman mysteries. Academic setting usually but this one is more about the relationship between Nick Hoffman and his longtime lover, Stefan. A former lover of Stefan's comes on the scene and gets murdered. Nick's jealousy and Stefan's past make them suspects.
