Even though we know the story, this book reminds us of the sacrifices made on 9-11.I read this about 3 years after it happened and it really brought the feelings of the nation back to me as if it happened yesterday. Well written.

Very inspiring! A tragic account of Todd Beamer's life before and after 9/11 (on flight 93) and how his pregnant wife was able to carry on.

This sat on my bookshelf for a while because I figured it would be a depressing read focused on the Sept 11 tradgedies many of us watched unfold. However, what I found in this book was so much more than just an account of what happened on that flight. Instead of simply recounting what happened and the aftermath, I found Lisa chose to be a beacon of light by demonstrating how her faith and unwavering belief in a higher power helped her work through the pain and to live the best life she could for herself and family. This is what really stood out the most - the human spirit, the kindness of others and finding the strength to go on despite all of the horrors. Having recently experienced a sudden and tragic death in my immediate family only 6 weeks ago, as I struggle with tremendous grief, I couldn't help but find solace and comfort in her words. I remember seeing Lisa on Oprah years ago and thinking I would pick up the book but never did. I happened to see it here on the swap and am so glad I ordered it. Highly recommended.

Very inspirational. The story of Todd Beamer and the other passengers aboard United Flight 93 on September 11, 2001.
You learn a little history about the life of Todd and some of the other passengers, but the scope of the book was about the "faith" of Todd and Lisa leading up to that fateful day.
I would challenge anyone to read this book and not get emotional (to the point of tears) while understanding the importance of faith during terrible times.
Highly recommended for anyone, however I am certain that there is a certain element of people that would find this book "offensive" for many reasons.

Sad true-story account of a 9/11 victim and his young family. Would recommend this book to anyone wanting to read an inspiring story about bravery and faith.

Although many may see this book as sad her faith was very inspiring to me and we all know the story of 9-11. I couldn't put the book down, it felt like Lisa Beamer included us personally in her own story. An excellent read.

Be sure to have a box of hankies close by when you read this book- you're going to need them. This is the story of Todd Beamer, one of the passengers on the ill fated flight 93 on September 11, 2001. As is often the case, the story is in the telling and Lisa Beamer, Todd's devoted wife, weaves a compelling yarn about a young upwardly-mobile couple who were living there faith "below the radar," as Todd liked to say. As has been said, "Fate seldom calls on us at a time of our choosing" and such was the case for Flight 93 and the brave men and women who prevented that day from being much, much worse. I suspect that when many congressmen and women stood on the steps of congress to sing "God Bless America" more than a few were saying a silent prayer of thanks for the brave heroes who prevented flight 93 from reaching them. Lisa's courage matches that of her husband as she allows us into her life and heart as she bears the news and tells her children of the unthinkable. Among the best and most heart-rending books I have ever read.
