This is an amazingly touching story about a man who falls for a a young girl. Realizing she needs time to grow up and wanting her to experience life, he leaves. He promises to be there for her on her 18th birthday. While he is away he is captured and tortured as a political prisoner for nearly two years. When he is finally released he is determined to win the woman he loves, no matter how long it takes. I cried when i read the letters. This book is amazing!

I loved this book! It has some cliché Silh. romance stuff but it is a wonderful romance. It has a friends to lovers theme but he was her older brother's friend and too old for her. Tragic and sweet, don't miss it.

First, I'm not a fan of Brockmann's, per se, just really liked the premise of this book. It really wasn't what I was expecting, or even would have predicted. It was better than I imagined. It's a really great romantic story.

When T. Jackson Winchester realized he was in love with his best friend's little sister, he also realized she was too young for him. Telling Kelly O'Brien he would see her on her 18th birthday, Jax left. But he couldn't keep his promise since he was locked in a Central American prison for two years. During that time, Jax wrote letters to Kelly just to keep his sanity. Now out of prison, he knows the only way he will ever be happy is to convince Kelly that he loves her.

This was a very heartwarming story. Kelly doesn't know about his prison stint and thinks he just didn't care enough to keep his promise. I felt bad for him, but understood why she wouldn't trust him. His letters to her are beautiful and pull you right into the story. My rating: 4.5 Stars.

Very differently styled book. We popped between the present and the character's past a lot. It wasn't jarring, but it happened so many times, I had trouble really rooting for the present day characters.

Who wouldn't adore a strong & sexy man who comes after his heroine with his heart on his sleeve & guns ablazing, determined to win her? But all it would have taken is one stinking conversation to clear up some confusion between them, so I wish the obstacles keeping them apart had been stronger. I've been a huge fan of Brockmann's for years but didn't enjoy this book as much as her others.

As always Suzanne Brockmann delivers it all. I don't even need to read the back cover, I will always read! tons of her books are on my Keeper List which takes alot. She also goes by Dinah McCall.

Heartfelt range of all your emotions and drama, read in one sitting -

Not a dull moment from first page to last page! Strong characters, very well written!

Her heart was broken because he made a promise to her to come for her when she was 18! She doesn't know he was a politial prisoner and marries another. He survived by writing letters to her. He is a strong character and doesn't play the "poor me" but is determined to show her how much he does love her after she gets divorced.

You won't be sorry you picked up this one!
