This is an amazingly touching story about a man who falls for a a young girl. Realizing she needs time to grow up and wanting her to experience life, he leaves. He promises to be there for her on her 18th birthday. While he is away he is captured and tortured as a political prisoner for nearly two years. When he is finally released he is determined to win the woman he loves, no matter how long it takes. I cried when i read the letters. This book is amazing!

I loved this book! It has some cliché Silh. romance stuff but it is a wonderful romance. It has a friends to lovers theme but he was her older brother's friend and too old for her. Tragic and sweet, don't miss it.

First, I'm not a fan of Brockmann's, per se, just really liked the premise of this book. It really wasn't what I was expecting, or even would have predicted. It was better than I imagined. It's a really great romantic story.

When T. Jackson Winchester realized he was in love with his best friend's little sister, he also realized she was too young for him. Telling Kelly O'Brien he would see her on her 18th birthday, Jax left. But he couldn't keep his promise since he was locked in a Central American prison for two years. During that time, Jax wrote letters to Kelly just to keep his sanity. Now out of prison, he knows the only way he will ever be happy is to convince Kelly that he loves her.
This was a very heartwarming story. Kelly doesn't know about his prison stint and thinks he just didn't care enough to keep his promise. I felt bad for him, but understood why she wouldn't trust him. His letters to her are beautiful and pull you right into the story. My rating: 4.5 Stars.
