This book, subtitled "the Alaskan Diaries and Letters of Libby Beaman" was not as expected. Libby's granddaughter inherited only some of her grandmother's dairies so she resorted to "re-creating" the stories as she remembered them. Therefore this book is written as a novel, and not as narrative, which I personally don't care for. Also, Libby is portrayed as an accomplished artist, but not one of her own illustrations is provided. I finished the forward and the first chapter and could do no more.
