Gritty series about U.S. Forest Service/Park Ranger Anna Pigeon.

Great read! As many times as I've visited the Statue of Liberty in my life, I still learned a lot of new things. I love the Anna Pigeon series. The cover of the book will give you chills.

I have read all of Nevada Barr's national park mysteries. This is a good one, placed where you wouldn't think there is anything like a national park--at the Statue of Liberty and at the island where all of the immigrants came to America.

I didn't know there were still old, abandoned buildings left on Ellis Island and Liberty Island. This made for a great...if creepy....setting for this story. Great Nevada Barr story telling. Great mystery, suspense. Loved it.

Her last few books have become dreary and depressing. Tired of reading about her drinking every night and dysfunctional relationships. Just get on with the story.

My favorite so far of the Anna Pidgeon series. A behind the scenes, indepth view of Ellis Island and Lady Liberty.

Although this book was published in 2000, it is very relevant today. Like all Nevada Barr novels this book has many twists and turns. I would highly recommend this novel to any reader that likes a good mystery.

This book is a triumph. The setting is so fascinating, the bits of history that go along with it, the thrum of present day Manhattan counterposed against the history of Ellis Island. Mysteries old and new...will definitely entertain.

Nevada Barr writes very well; her character Anna Pigeon is likeable and interesting. She's a National Park Ranger & the various books are set all over the US. This one is in NYC on Ellis Island & Liberty Island (where the Statue of Liberty is.)
