Nothing particularly exciting about this book. It was worth reading, but not so good that I can't wait to read another in the series.

Writing was good. Characters flat. Plot far fetched.

If I'm stuck in an airport with nothing to read, I would try another of these.

Halfway between Tom Clancy and Clive Cussler. though not as well written as either.

Another exciting, credible Jake Grafton thriller that has our reluctant hero in a no-holds-barred race to save his country from Islamic terrorists who have gotten hold of four Russian nuclear warheads. Sometimes Stephen Coonts plotting is so realistic and possible that it brings the chilly realization that it could be a game plan for actual terrorists. The mechanics of this threat are just that mundane and do-able that one hopes it is not reprinted in Farsi. Although some of the technology Grafton brings to the pursuit of the bad guys is really science fiction, the winning tactics turn out to be mostly low-tech and suitably heroic. A good fast read for techno thriller junkies.

The threat is closing in. For sale: four nuclear warheads offered to the highest bidder by a rogue Russian general. The buyer: the Sword of Islam, a Mideastern anti-American network. The warning: one by one, they're to be detonated on unknown homeland targets by four separate terrorist cells. Rear Admiral Jake Grafton knows that this could spell doomsday for America.

The countdown begins. Now, the President of the United States has given Grafton unprecedented authority to do anything he can to stop them. But frist, Grafton has to find them. When a traitor infiltrates the cells, the stakes are raised even higher, plunging Grafton into a desperate terrorist hunt. The action swirls from the hot points of central Russia and Suez, to the explosive secrets aboard the mysterious freighter, Olympic Voyager, and finally to the imperiled symbol of American liberty itself. With four disasters set to detonate, it's up to Grafton - Grafton alone - to annihilate the enemy before the unthinkable becomes a terrifying reality.

Frighteningly realistic! An action-packed thriller . . A High-Octane Tale!

Coonts's latest gripping espionage thriller (after America, Hong Kong and Cuba) continues the adventures of Adm. Jack Grafton as he pursues major malefactors. This time, a rogue Russian general has sold nuclear warheads to a Mideastern anti-American terrorist best known for "hacking some tourists to death with a machete" in Egypt. Grafton must identify and locate the terrorist and his cronies before he detonates the weapons in the U.S. The action moves from central Russia and Suez to the American east coast. Readers familiar with the series know that while Grafton's methods trample on the law, the FBI and, especially, the CIA, he will be supported by persons at the highest level of government. Coonts's naval background and his legal education bring considerable authority to the story, and the narrative is loaded with detailed information about terrorist networks, modern weaponry and international intrigue.
