This book was written in hand by Charles Dickens for his children. It is his re-telling of the life of our Lord. He read it to his children nightly. It was not allowed to be published because this was such a personal communication between him and his children, and he did not want his deepest religious convictions subject to public discussion. After the death of Dickens' youngest child in 1933, publication was permitted.
A beautiful little book!
Dickens's life of Jesus, written for his own children in the late 1840s, was read aloud every year at Christmas. The manuscript was passed down through the family until 1933, when his youngest son allowed it to be published at last.
