My Life Next Door
Author: Huntley Fitzpatrick
A gorgeous debut about family, friendship, first romance, and how to be true to one person you love without betraying another — “One thing my mother never knew, and would disapprove of most of all, was that I watched the Garretts. All the time.” — The Garretts are everything the Reeds are not. Loud, numerous, messy, affectionate...  more »

This is why I read YA books - I really like stories like this, that get you through every stage of a young relationship. My Life Next Door is a great YA contemporary.
I loved it and i can't wait to read more from this author. She has a new book coming out in April 2014 "What I Thought Was True". The perfect summer read! I loved everything about this book. I enjoyed the author's writing style. This book is the best book I have read in a long time. It had the right mixture of everything - romance, friendship, and tragedy. You will not be able to put the book down. I loved this story and would recommend it!

First, I must admit that I do not like romances. There must be something special about them to appeal to me. This one didn't have it.

Yes, I can agree that a young woman who has only a sister and a mother might envy a big family like the one living next door to Samantha. And, a teenager falling for someone in a family that her mother didn't like is understandable, too. Add a friend who cheats her way through school but the scenario fell apart from there for me.

The mom who didn't care. There are many of those around. The egotistical boyfriend whose only desire links to politics? Yeh, I get it and I suppose there are people that shallow but what's in it for him? I understand driving away from a hit and run accident because you have been drinking but the ending to this one is downright hokey! Too long for the story, too predictable, and too shallow. What did I expect? After all, it's a romance and that's all.

Loved this book. I refuse to post plots, but the book held my interest from page one to the last page. It is NOT a book to start in the evening, you won't be able to stop reading once you get started.
