A telling story and interesting look into the mindset of cult members. Seeing the cult through the eyes of an unknowing, unwilling participant makes it all the more powerful. THe middle drags a little as Guest spends more time with his descriptions than dealing with the actual emotions of the situations, but otherwise a thoroughly enjoyable book!

An excellent book. I found it hard to put down. A story about the forgotten childen of religous fanatics.
I read quite a few pages on a long city bus trip. The author was just an elementary age twerp when his mom joined and they lived in several locations. This is told through the eyes of a kid, so there is a lot about how they like to play, what mischief they got into, and their impressions of the adults. There is no index or bibliography. However, it is a unique viewpoint.
