This is a collection of edited stories from National Public Radio's StoryCorps Project, which is based on the idea that everyone has a story to tell. Ordinary Americans go into a booth and interview each other for 40 minutes. Two CDs of the interview are made, one going to the participants, and one stored in the Library of Congress. Excerpts of select stories are aired on the NPR's Morning Edition. I was enthralled when I heard my first StoryCorps broadcast, and one day I hope to record my story as well for my children (I was unfortunately unable to make an appointment when they were in Los Angeles last year). I have to admit that the stories are more compelling when heard than read, but still they all touch the heart.

StoryCorps is a non-profit that collects and archives interviews of ordinary people speaking with each other. An excerpt from a chosen interview is broadcast by NPR each Friday in a heavily edited form. The actual interview is as long as forty minutes. This book offers a selection of the brief samples broadcast on NPR; the full interviews are available online.

StoryCorps Project is amazing! I found the history of StoryCorps extremely interesting. However, I enjoy listening to the stories on the radio much more than reading them....for me, something was lost in the process. However, I will be tuning in from now on!

Wonderful collection of the Public Radio show of the same name; a multi-layered look into the stories of friends and family.
