I liked this book, but I felt was more about the main character Courtneys mother and aunt then it was about her. Now dont get me wrong, their stories were very interesting compelling. Here you have two older women who had given thirty years of their lives to men who were truly not deserving of their love or loyalty. I would have liked to see more interaction between Courtney and Lake Masters. For me, their coming together was rather boring and easy. I would have liked to see Lake really have to work to get Courtney, more a dramatic buildup to their eventual coming together. Her mother and aunt had more drama in their relationships and former relationships then Courtney had in her dating of Lake.

"Her Little Black Book" is a departure from Brenda Jackson's usual writing style. I had to force myself to not skip pages in the book. There are at least 5 story lines throughout the book. I had to refer back to previous sections to remember who the character was. I was disappointed with this Brenda Jackson book, however, Ms. Jackson remains one of my favorite authors.
