This was a surprisingly good read. I thought Max and Anna were genuine, likable characters. Their affection for each other and the obstacles they faced were very believable. The sex was pretty steamy and I was rooting for them to get their HEA. I'm looking forward to reading the next in the series.
Yes, the sex was hot & steamy, and this author is very good at erotica, but this scenario has been done to death, and basically, - been there, done that. Ms. Schroeder doesn't add anything new or titilating to the mix (the sex is straight vanilla), so - ok, call me jaded - but I found it all rather boring.
Contemporary Erotic Romance from Samhain Publishing. Max and Anna have know each other since they were kids, and they are best friends. Max is conservative, responsible and dependable. Anna is more impulsive and wild. Max prefers committed long term relationships, while Anna engages in short term affairs with no committment. After Max's fiance breaks off thier engagement, and Anna dumps her latest boyfriend, they get together to commiserate. The next thing they know, they wake up the next morning in bed together. Max wants Anna forever, but Anna has a fear of commitment. Max has to figure out why Anna keeps all men at a distance. Will they be able to work it out, or is thier friendship ruined? This is a sweet romance, with likeable characters. Sex scenes are steamy.

This book was short but well written. I really enjoyed how uptight and controlled Max became loose and a bit wild. With a man who was on track to have a heart attack at an early age I was so happy when Anna was able to seduce him and get him to see how a little fun never hurt anyone. I enjoyed seeing how two different and long friend individuals finally got together.
