Jason doesn't want to live with his grandparents, so when he overhears that they are threatening to sue for his custody, he runs away, leaving his mother, Beth, frantic. Sherriff Ethan Drum finds Jason hiding in the woods and reassures the boy that he will help if he can. Jason is pretty sure that what his mom needs is a husband, so he introduces the handsome sherriff to his grandparents as his mom's fiance. Ethan might have protested a bit more, but Beth is beautiful and vulnerable and somehow the little boy has crawled under his skin. Who needs a pretend fiance anyhow when he could have a real family?
