Jessica plans to spend a cozy Christmas at home but murder never takes a holiday.
A slay ride for santa. Jessica Fletcher unwraps a deadly puzzle when she sets out to discover who killed "Santa Claus"-a.k.a her neighbor Rory Brent, who played St. Nick at the town's yearly Christmas Eve celebration. Cabot Cove, Maine's most famous myster writer had been planning on spending a cozy Christmas at home, but murder never takes a holiday. Brent was found shot to death on his farm, and there will be no peace on earth until his killer is found. Everyone assumes the culprit is Brent's longtime enemy, Jake Walther, the meanest man in town. Jake is crazy as a coot, sour as green apples, and as bad tempered as a cat with its tail caught in a screen door. But Jessica soon uncovers evidence that makes her believe the sheriff has arrested the wrong person. Snooping into the small town's past for a motive, Jessica is determined to deliver the real killer before Christmas. The trouble is, the next sound she hears this silent night may be a scream-her own.......

I love Jessica Fletcher and anything about her...my favorite mystery heroine since Agatha Christie's Miss Marple...
I found this story entertaining & a good read. I am a fan of Murder She Wrote the series and I have always found Angela Lansbury's characters to be interesting. I had always watched the series during it's original run and watched it when it went into syndication. One thing I liked about the series was the employing of the many actors, women & men, who no longer populated the TV screen except for the movies on TCM and AMC as well as TV series of 50s and 60s. The books have the same flavor as the series with the addition of what Jessica thought and felt. I would classify it as an excellent Cozy Mystery if one is in to this genre as I am. I don't read mysteries to solve them but for pure entertainment value. I would recommend them to my friends who enjoyed the series and to others who might be interested to find out what Jessica Fletcher is beyond the series.
I really enjoy all the Murder, She Wrote, books and this one was no exception - very good. I do recommend it.
