This is the story of the little known brother to the Clark as in "Lewis and Clark". A remarkable story about the birth of our nation.

A well written book, that is historically correct. Thom tells a story in ways that entertain as you learn. I recommend any of his books. I wish he would write some more.

This was a great read! It's about George Rogers Clark (the older brother of the Clark from Lewis & Clark). Set at the time of the revolutionary war, Clark sets out to take back much of our country in the Illinois and Kentucky territories, in the hands of the British, who were hiring the local Indians to kill the white settlers and bring back their scalps. George's band of men was small but excellent marksmen, woodsmen, and several roughians.
While the British bought the Indians with wampum beads and liquor and other wampum, George won them over with honesty. With stealth and surprise George's roughshod band overtook a much larger force and made friends and allies with the French, Spanish, and the Indians in their territory. All done with no remuneration from the almost insolvent state of Virginia. Great, exciting adventure, romance, and lots of historical information. Very engrossing!

James Alexander Thom at his best. He brings to life the history of the revolutionary war in the "Northwest". That being Illinos and Indiana. George Rogers Clark, the older brother of William Clark, obtained most of his military achievements before he turned 30. He was reponsible for British ceding the Northwest to United States in the 1793 Treaty of Paris.

Another good historical novel set in 1770's America about George Rogers Clark. Plenty of history as action takes place with the Indians, British, and Revolutionary War campaigns.
