This book was so much better than the sbove reviewer gave it credit for.... not a single loose end.... not sure what left her dissatisfied. It's an early work, but still very good. This book has received many stars, so there must be several quiet reviewers out there who agree with me. Just loved these characters!

First of all, this is a previously published book under the name Sharon Long. It is NOT a new release.

I have very mixed feelings about this book. It appears to be a very early work by Maya Banks due to plot issues, lack of plot development and constant repeatative details that after a while get tedious. I don't feel a connection between the hero and heroine at all and a lot of questions are formed by the reader as the book drags on. These questions are either answered ambiguously, at best, or ignored completely. The reader is left wondering "why?" throughout the book. It isn't until you get to page 100 or so that the author begins to explain the reasoning behind the heroines actions, but then the reasons are murky and not quite believable for the reader.

If you loved the KGI series done by Ms. Banks and want this novel to be on the same level, you will be seriously disappointed. However, if you want to read a very early work done by Ms. Banks and don't mind sifting through a novel filled with plot holes and characters who are awkward and not quite connected, then this would be a book for you. Sometimes it is nice to see where a novelist started. Overall, this book did not meet my expectations. 2 1/2 stars.

I have to second Diana C's thoughtful review. It is certainly an adequate book but not at the level of Maya Banks other works. Worth reading if you've enjoyed her other books but definitely not her strongest.
