Excellent book
Written in 1988 and reissued in 2006, Sandra Brown calls this one of her Loveswept Romances. It is a predictable tale of a women who is raising her dead sister's son and a man who finds out he is the father of a teen-age son.

Someone is sending Law Kincaid anonymous letters claiming he fathered a son he knows nothing about. He shows up on Marnie Hibb's address since that's the return address on the letters. She swears she didn't send the letters, but then Law meets her son who looks just like him. He can't remember sleeping with Marnie and she claims the boy isn't biologically hers. Tension, attraction and secrets abound.
When you're looking for a love story, Sandra Brown can always deliver. Interesting conflicts as the newly found father tries to find his place in the family structure.
Marnie's past drops into her life, threatening to take her son and her heart.
Good book. Fast & fun.

This is one of Sandra Brown's late 1980's books. A very poignant, heartfelt book. I have yet to read a book of this era by Ms. Brown that I haven't loved.

When confronted with David, the similarity between the two is striking; David is the spitting image of Law. Law insists on a blood test, but already has lost his heart to his son and his adoptive mother. Unknown to him, she has carried a torch for him since she was 14. He tries to worm his way into her heart (okay, really just her bed), while she tries to hold him at arm's length. Marnie allows David to move in with Law temporarily to allow them to get to know each other. But will he choose all the gadgets and possessions Law can provide verses the love he has had the last 16 years?
The fact that Law constantly pressures Marnie into an intimate relationship is somewhat comical. He refers to the birth mother of his child as a slut (Sharon was a 16 year old virgin when he met her, fed her alcohol, skinny dipped with her, then deflowered her), yet Marnie is matronly because she will not engage in the same reckless behavior... Take this for what it is - a very dated melodramatic romance novel with a very alpha male that does not really translate well in this decade, but was interesting nonetheless. I really liked the relationship between Marnie and David.

Marie raised her nephew as her own ever since he was a baby. David's dad finds out. He comes to their house to find out the truth. They change for the better. A great read!

The astronaut doesn't always get his way all the time no matter what public opinion thinks. So then throw in a teenager and things get unusual for Law the celebrity astronaut.
Marnie, the sister of an unwed mother, takes over the child rearing of her nephew when her sister dies. 17 years later, as a result of a mystery, she is confronted with the baby's father, who is now famous and furious that he was never told. Enjoyable, but an early effort.

I assume this is a reprint of an early Brown romance. Even two or three decades ago the "hero" would have been objectionable to most women I think...certainly to this one. The reader's drawling accent is annoying (and I am a Texan myself), but for Brown fans this is a quick listen and could be a good story if not for the extreme arrogance of the hero, and benign acceptance by the heroine.

Two and a half stars because this being an earlier novel by Brown, it was predictable and the leading man was arrogant and crass and the leading woman was a dolt. The teenage boy was the best character in the book. Okay for a simple romance story I guess, just not my cup of tea.
