Great story of a young Polish soldier who fought Germans at the start of WWII. When he returned home, he was arrested as a spy by Russians and sent to a prison camp in Siberia. With a little outside help, and accompanied by a few fellow prisoners, he escapes. These men WALKED across Siberia, the Gobi Desert, and Himalayan mountains to asylum in British India. Very good adventure story. Planning to read a related book where a reader decided to research Rawicz's incredible story and attempt to verify the account.
