I really did not enjoy this book...usually love Nicholas Sparks but this one fell flat for me. I skimmed the last 150 pages or so....just couldn't get into the story line.
Absolutely loved this book. I had just about given up on Nicholas Sparks. I've read every book he's published but really have not enjoyed the last several ones. I only bought this one because I longed to be as touched by one of his books as I was years ago. The Longest Ride did it. It was fantastic and I hated to see it end.
This book was amazing !!! This best he has ever written. I could not put it down. Can't wait for the next one.
Another good entry by Nicholas Sparks. His last few books have seemed like they were written to be a movie, unlike his earlier writing.
While I was not surprised that I did not get pulled into this book, I was really hoping that I would like it. For some reason I always get my hopes up that Sparks will pull out a magnificent book that I just fall in love with since he gets so much publicity. However, I have yet to find what really has made him so popular when his books just aren't that great in my opinion. This one lost me in the first chapter, but I forced myself to read until the fourth one. It never picked up for me. I have enjoyed a couple of his books, but this was not one of them.
This is a book that tugs at your heartstrings. I kept wondering how these 'two stories' would tie together and what a pleasant surprise. As with the other Nicholas Sparks books I have read I was caught up in the lives of the characters and when I had to put the book down I could not wait to pick it back up again.
I wasn't crazy about this book. It didn't really grab my attention until the last 150 pages or so. I had to force myself to finish it.
This was a good page turner, great twist at the end of the book. I have not read Nicholas Sparks before and will pick up another of his stories.
Loved this book could not put it down vi
This is the first book that I have read from Nicholas Sparks & I was not disappointed. It is actually 2 stories in 1 that eventually intertwine with each other. 91 year old Ira Levinson is in trouble. He has crashed his car in the the middle of winter & is in a remote area & is trapped in his car with no chance of help coming soon. As he is in his car, his wife, Ruth, who has been dead for 9 years, comes to him & they reminisce about their marriage, life & art collection. Meanwhile, Sophia Danko, who is in her senior year of college, has just broken up with her cheating boyfriend, Brian. She decides to get out & go to a rodeo with her friends. There she meets a handsome cowboy named Luke. Luke is a bull rider. Sophia & Luke fall in love. Sophia is worried about Luke's career as a bull rider & worries about him getting hurt. They are also worried about what they are going to do about their relationship & where it will go once Sophia finishes her senior year at college. Eventually, Sophia's & Luke's lives collide with that of Ira's & Ruth's. The story has many twists & turns. I won't say more because I don't want to ruin the story. Excellent book! Kept me turning the pages, waiting to see what happens next! Read it, you won't be sorry! Will definitely read more Nicholas Sparks books! Also, love his movies! I read this book before the movie came out.
It was good but just didn't seem long enough - everything seemed rushed.
enjoyed it and waiting to watch the movie!! :)
I am a little more than half way through this book. I am really enjoying it, even though I usually do not care for two stories at the same time. The characters in both stories are strong characters and I am enjoying them both. At this time, I am not seeing the correlation between the two, but certain that will reveal itself shortly. I have read other books by this author, and enjoy his style of writing.
Loved this book!
This was an emotional read, but very satisfying. I was wondering how the 2 story lines would connect, and I was surprised by the twist near the end!
I usually love Nicholas Sparks books but I found this one extremely boring during the chapters where the elderly man (Ira) reminisces about his life. I couldn't wait to get those chapters over with and read about the love story between Luke and Sophia. I get that they needed to do that because of the twist at the end of the book but did we really need to go into that much detail??
