Absolutely amazing. I read it in 48 hours (after the kids went to bed each night). It's fast paced, gut wrenching and well written.

I have read all of Lisa Scottoline's books and I thought this was her best one yet even though the story itself was a departure from her usual line of work. The Ellen and Will characters were so believeable that I ached when her heart was breaking. I highly recommend this book.

A very good book. Takes you on a roller coaster ride. The book was a hard one to put down and was one I read in a few days. The ending was not as I expected either...that's always a plus. I love it when a book has you in it's grips and surprises you in the end! Definitely recommend!

Wow! I read this book in less than 24 hours, it was hard to put down. The suspense was great, the story well-written, the characters well-developed. All in all a great book!

A departure from Ms. Scottoline's normal courtroom drama and female attorneys, it is a wonderful book. I liked the central character, Ellen Gleeson, who is a "features" reporter at a major newspaper in Philadelphia. She is single with an adopted child, Will, who is the center of her life. When going through her mail one day, she sees "have your seen this child" card with a photo of a boy that looks exactly like her boy. Although her adoption is legal and done through an attorney, there is nothing much about the birth mother or father and, in fact, it is sealed. However, Ellen can't let it go and starts her own investigation hoping that her boy is not the boy kidnapped 2 years ago. The investigation takes her to poor neighborhoods in Philly and posh ones in Miami, Florida. Events too coincidental fill her with fear for her life and that of Will's. Powerfully paced book and in-depth character description makes this departure from her usual novels well worth the reading! After about half-way through the book, I couldn't put it down.

This was a book that I had a difficult time putting down. I read it in three days. The story line is compelling and even the ending is a huge surprise. Well written, pager turner!

would you look again? If you thought your adopted child was possibly not knowingly given up for adoption by his mom, would you want to know the truth, even if you could lose your child? add a mystery and it is a story that you won't want to put down.

Loved this book! It'd been awhile when a book held my interest all the way through. I also loved the short chapters similar to J. Patterson's style. Although part of the ending was predictable, it didn't detract from the book and kept me reading to find out what next.

This is an excellent book that holds your attention. I read it in about two days and was sad to have it end. It's one of those you wish would be made into a movie. Very well written, suspenseful, thoughtful book of a mother who has adopted a son and who comes across a card with the photo of a missing child that looks just like her son. The book takes you on a journey with a very exciting and satisfying conclusion.

This is the first book I've read by this author and it took me a while to get the flow of the very short chapters, but I ended up really liking the book. It's about a woman who gets a missing child postcard in the mail and is surprised to see that the child looks surprisingly like her adopted son of the same age. Interesting characters, a good moral dilemma, and it didn't fall apart in the end, in my opinion. I'll try more of her books and would recommend this one to others.

With all the attention this book has been getting, I expected something a lot better.

I found the writing to be dull. Something about the plot was not developed well in the beginning because it gave me a slight depressed feeling to read it. (I have no life experiences close to the story-line that would contribute to this feeling. I am, however, a mom with two young children).

The story was good. But it could have been great if it had been written in a different style I think.

What would you do if, finding a "Have you Seen This Child?" flyer in your mailbox, you realize that the picture of the child is that of your 3-year old adoptive son?

Everything inside her tells her to deny the similarity between news reporter Ellen Gleeson's adoptive son and the child in the photo. But as a journalist, she won't be able to rest until she uncovers the truth.

This story questions the very essence of parenthood and raises a moral quandry that will haunt you. And even after finishing it, you will find yourself asking, "What would I do?"

Oh my goodness, Lisa Scottoline, captured me after the first page!! I love how she writes about the "tough stuff" going on in the world today. This one deals with adoption, and being an adoptive mom myself, that was what drew me to the book initially. I quickly came to love the main characters and got choked up in places where the plot became intense. This was a book I could not put down!

The story of a sigle mom who believes her adopted son is a child that was kidnapped from his family. This is the first book I have read from this author and looking forward to reading some of her other work. The story kept me asking myself, "what would I do if I was in this situation". A few surprising twists in the plot; a book I definitely recommend.

Incredibly amazing read! I literally couldn't put this book down, and read it in about 9 hours (hubby took care of kids, and I holed myself up in a room)! This was my first Lisa Scottoline book and I'm definitely a fan after this first one! It was riveting, fast-paced, very interesting, really made you feel what the characters were going through, tear-jerker at some points, and the ending was not anything I would have ever expected!

This was the first book by this author I've read. . I loved the short
chapters and kept saying to myself ' Just one more. . ' I couldn't put it down and went on the emotional rollarcoaster with Ellen on the mystery that surrounded her son. Did not expect the twists and turns the story took and held my breath until the end. Will definately read more of her books. Wow :-)

So far this is the BEST book of Lisa Scottoline's that I have read.........so far! I have read a few and this one just is way up there in my humble opinion. It really draws the reader in.....you go thru such highs and lows of emotions along with this mother......it makes you do a whole lot of soul searching as to what YOU would do if ever placed in her situation. I absolutely loved the book! If you have never read any of Lisa Scottoline's books yet start out with this one and I bet you will be hooked! 5+ stars

This book kept your interest all the way to the last pages. It was a believable story.
Seeing her adopted baby's picture on a missing child flyer, she hopes it is only a coincidence but has to know the truth.
It leads to danger as she wants to know who is the real birth parents.

Gets right to the meat of the story on the first page. I like that. You know what the books about-and I hate when the characters don't know what's coming, but you do!! Several twists and turns, especially toward the end. It kept me hooked and reading all the way through.

Wow - after reading all of the other posted reviews, I'm going to sound like "Debbie Downer" but I thought this book was terrible. The only reason I kept reading it was because I didn't have any other books on my nightstand. S-L-O-W and predictable, only picking up at the end. Although an intriguing idea for a story, I found some of the plot lines unrealistic. This was not my first book by this author- maybe the third. Won't be picking up another one.

Good story, but pretty predictable. The main idea was a very real part of the story. The romantic part was rather weak. It seemed to be just thrown in. It was worth reading.

This is the first book I have read by Lisa Scottoline and I really enjoyed it. I look forward to reading more of her work.

Very fast paced and I couldn't put it down! Tears at your heartstrings (especially as a mother.) I did figure out one of the plot twists, but was surprised at the other one. Very enjoyable book. Being from the SJ/Philly area, I enjoyed reading a book that takes place in Philly and by an author who works in Philly.

The book's very short chapters make for an easy/quick read. I thought the premise of the novel was intriguing and was immediately sucked in to the drama.

I rarely read books from cover to cover in one sitting but did so with this one.

I liked the unique plot of an adoptive mother seeing the photo of a missing child who looks exactly like the son she adopted, and seeking to find out if he's the same. But it all wrapped up with contrived, overblown theatrics that ruined the whole story for me. Disappointed, but generous C+ for originality of premise and an engaging first half.

Look Again OR Look the Other Way?
That nagging suspicion that what happened in the past is not what it seemed to be and now the Truth can turn your world upside down. Ellen has a dilemma: Search for the Truth even if it cost you the most precious relationship you got, your adopted child, or look the other way. Of course she wouldn't make much of a protagonist if she didn't risk everything to know the Truth! I enjoyed the story and Mary Stuart Masterson's narration was excellent. Morphing her voice to do the different characters and accents.
