This story is so good because it is true. It starts with one Jewish man finding Jesus and becoming a Christian. This young man was the hope and pride of his father but now he is dead to him. It becomes his life's work to be a missionary to the Jews in Argentina, in London and Danzig. It was not easy to be a Jew in Europe during WW I and WW II. His amazing wife and children support him in his missionary efforts. They are often suspect because they speak German and are Jewish.
I really enjoyed this book, a personal history intertwined with world history.

This is an incredible true story! When you read about the hardships and trials that Yente and her family endured, and see the beautiful faith that was birthed as a result, you will be very encouraged to persevere in your own trials. This book is a great way to learn history as well. I read it aloud to my children, although I stopped before I got to the horrors of WWII because I felt it was a bit much for them. A truly beautiful, edifying book.
Good book for book club reading and discussing.....faith keeping a family together in very hard times.
