Let me start by saying that I consider myself to be one of Richard Paul Evans's greatest fans. I've read everything he's written (except children's stories) and have loved them all! This book was a real departure from his usual Christmas season books.
Many people I know either hate or don't understand the Parable of the Prodigal Son. If they truly want to understand it, they should read this book. It is disturbing, upsetting, not-RPE type stuff and spot on!
When I started LOST DECEMBER, I was confused. Where was the sweet Evans's love story? What was this strangely disturbing book going to turn into? What it turned into was an exceptionally good parable of its own.
Read this one. I think you'll really find it wonderful!

As always I enjoy reading books by this author. I also like the way his books are made (presented). Learned a few lessons from this story as I do from all the ones I read before.

Enjoyable, feel good story from Richard Paul Evans. Quick read.
I loved this review. Story is based on the prodigal son from the Bible. I could not put it down. Thank you Richard Paul Evans.
Wonderful but modern story of the Prodigal Son by a bestselling author. You willl enjoy it.
A pretty good prodigal story. An easy read as are most of Evans' books.
I agree with the other folks that have said this is a good read, a fast read, and an excellent modern telling of the prodigal son.
But for me personally, I had to put it down for a short time and then come back to it. I guess it hit a little close to home... Come back to it I did and I got the happy-ever-after-neat-and-tidy ending I hoped for.
Luke Crisp started out as a really good hard working guy. He took a wrong turn and fell in with a bad crowd. And learned the hard way. When he was rock bottom - homeless and destitute in Vegas - a modern good Samaritan gave Luke a hand and helped get him back on track.
