A rich mine of historical achievements of largely non-Western civilizations that preceded and enabled the Golden Age of Greece. A romp throught the history of mathematics, astronomy, cosmology, physics, geology, chemistry, and technology.

Fascinating reading. Some of these things I had read about before, but most was new to me. It gave me a whole new outlook on other cultures and eras. This book is as much about history and prejudices as it is about science and discoveries. A must read for thinkers.
