An absolutely fantastic historical romance! Julia Quinn was already one of my top three historical romance authors, but I think this is her best book yet- or at least my favorite. :) I won't go over the plot again, I will say that the book takes place between a grand English home, on the road and in Ireland. Jack, our hero, is wonderful. I've been suffering rake-with-women-issues fatigue, and Jack's charm paired with his respect of our heroine, Grace, was refreshing. He has been through a tragedy but it does not make him dark or hateful. I loved the way the romance developed- the protagonists are so fun to read about that it was a pleasure "watching" them fall in love. I wanted to smack the dowager (Grace's employer) through the whole book, Quinn was VERY deft at writing her as a frustrating old rich witch. :) There are two other characters who were set up in this book that will appear in the sequel (advertised in the back of the book) which is due in October. I already can't wait to read it- fans of Quinn who were disappointed by "The Secret Diaries of Miss Miranda Cheever" and "On the Way To the Wedding" should be happy to hear that Quinn is back on the top of her game. I highly recommend this book- it even has "truthiness" in it! (Also reviewed under my name at Amazon)

Well, that was fun! Completely forgettable, but fun! Jack and Grace are rather flat (albeit fun!) characters for Julia Quinn, but I am truly intrigued by Thomas and Amelia's upcoming story. Those two captured my interest right away (despite being not-so-fun). I can't help but view The Lost Duke as an aperitif for the next tale.

Is it October yet? :)

Another fun read from Julia Quinn, she has written yet another classic love story complete with a whip smart heroine, a dashing hero, and a happy ending for all. A great beach read!

This may be my new favorite book. I'm holding off my final decision until the second installment comes out in September.
The hero is absolutely hillarious as well as breathtakingly divine. Set in the 1800s in England, this story makes you want the characters for your friends. Excellent read and highly recommended to everyone no matter what genre you typically read.

This book is solid. Jack is a great hero, but Grace is a little flat, in my opinion. I agree with the other reviewer who found Thomas and Amelia more intriguing. Also, I don't find this plot device very original. Didn't Cathy Maxwell have a similar situation in a couple books awhile back? But for Quinn fans, this book is delightful.

As usual Julia Quinn has done it again, I have enjoyed all of her books. Dull is not a word to be used describing her books.
