A quick, somewhat light read, but very enjoyable.

I love Greek mythology, so I looked forward to reading this.

A retelling of the myth of the Minotaur, this young adult book is told from the Minotaur's sister's point of view and makes the Minotaur into a sympathetic, almost likable character, though mute. Xenodice, the narrator, tells the story of Ariadne and Theseus and their involvement in the story through a first-person account that makes Ariadne into a mean-spirited, spoiled brat, and Theseus into an ugly, vain, self-important blowhard instead of the hero he is made out to be in Greek mythology. It's an interesting take, and I enjoyed reading this book very much, though I'm an adult.

I liked the different view of the hero story, and making the Minotaur gentler than he has ever been portrayed was a great twist. A fun read for teens, whether they like mythology or not. It helps if they know the story of Theseus and the Minotaur, but they don't have to know it to read and enjoy this book.
