I enjoyed this true account of the author's loss of her father. The story focuses less on the murder of her father and more on her reaction to it (as a nine-year-old and today as an adult) and how it affected her family. Howard looks unflinchingly at her family, even her father's drug use and her stepfather's abuse.

Well-wriiten story of the author's re-visiting her father's life at the time of his murder; many of the details wouldn't have made sense to her until much later, even had she known them at the time. I recommend the book for true crime fans, with the caution that there's a section I considered transition/filler between the murder period and her (decade later) decision to investigate, which I skimmed through as it had little to do directly with the case itself.
Interesting story, about a daughter who's father was murdered when she was 10 and how it effected her life and everyone else around her.Slow at times but very honest and emotional.
