Alvirah and Willy are a cute and funny couple who are always finding themselves in trouble of sorts as Alvirah tries to solve crimes on her own. These are all funny short stories about some of their adventures. Some of the stories are also in the book "Death on the Cape," but this was the only thing that disappointed me.

short stories about cleaning woman and husband plummer Alvirah and Willy who win the lottery and she becomes an amateur detective!
I couldn't read this, it started out boring and I didn't get far. Maybe this is considered a 'cozy' mystery but I like something with 'meat' and suspense and thrill.
Fun characters - group of short stories entertaining to read!!

Great book !!
This book has several stories about Alvirah and Willy. The stories are suspenseful but not ugly. The writing causes the reader to want to continue reading. The 2 main characters are very likeable. Some of the "bad" guys are really bad, but some are, more than anything else, confused. There are some surprise endings, but, thankfully, no shockingly surprising graphic writing upon turning a page.
Book and Sust Cover as new. Very good reading, as all Mary HIggins Clark books are. Enjoy!!

Alvirah and Willie are a working class couple that won the New York State Lottery and are now living the high life. They have been travelling all over the world and enjoying themselves. Alvirah is one sharp cookie and pretty good at solving mysteries which is really good because crazy things keep happening everywhere they go. Alvirah also loves to mingle with celebreties and writes about her experiences for the Globe. She was given a beautiful sunburst pin that contains a hidden microphone so record conversations and it has been her saving grace many times.
