As I'm not a fan of romances, I've been getting tired of paranormal books that are simply a straight romance in a vampire wrapper. Fortunately, I can't consider this series in that category. There's definitely enough tongue-in-cheek humor and back story with a bit of suspense to keep things entertaining..
Each book in this series focuses on a particular member of the Argeneau vampire clan. And this one is the story of Etienne Argeneau and Rachel Garrett. Etienne is 312 years old, the youngest son and 2nd youngest child of the beautiful Marguerite Argeneau. As the story opens, Etienne is faced with a dilemma: Each vampire is only allowed to "turn" one human in his or her lifetime, and usually that option is reserved for converting a life partner. However, Rachel Garrett has thrown herself in the path of a mortal blow from an axe-wielding maniac in an effort to spare his life, and thus endanger her own. Though he's felt an attraction to Rachel since first waking up in the morgue where she works, he doesn't feel right about converting her, even if it's to save her life, without her permission. Because though his race is extremely difficult to kill, a beheading would definitely get the job done. But then again, since she's saved his life, he feels that he can do no less for her than return the favor.
When Rachel wakes up a vampire in Etienne's home, she goes through extreme denial as Etienne tries to explain to her what she has become. It's only after she meets the rest of his family, discovering the scientific facts behind vampirism, as well as the sexual "side effects", does she begin to grudgingly accept the fact. But since she must learn to control her blood lust, and hone her new talents while the conversion within her body completes itself over the course of the next week, Etienne has asked that she remain with him in his home for a while as she adjusts to these changes. The attraction Etienne has felt for Rachel continues to grow. And Rachel recognizes Etienne as the man who has haunted her dreams, in a strangely sexual way, for the past several nights prior to her turning.
The story is ultimately a romance, but as I said above, it's got enough other things going for it to keep it entertaining and amusing. And I'm looking forward to keeping up with this cute, light-hearted series.

A prequel of sorts to Sands's paranormal comedy, Single White Vampire, this lightweight romantic romp shoots for the easy laugh and often misses. The allure of vampires lies in their strength and seeming invulnerability, but Etienne Argeneau, this book's bloodsucking hero, is curiously incompetent when it comes to dispatching a crazed mortal named Pudge who's intent on lopping his head off. Twice, Pudge manages to injure Etienne to the point where he ends up in the morgue under coroner Rachel Garrett's care. But when Rachel gets in the way of attempt number three, Etienne rescues her in the only way he knows how-by turning her into a vampire. The story moves from mildly amusing to ridiculous when Rachel, in denial, insists that she's merely having a "wet dream" involving a sexy man who thinks he's a vampire. There's little tension between Etienne and Rachel, sexual or otherwise. Instead, Sands stretches the plot with conflicts stemming from minor misunderstandings. Her attempts at hip dialogue also fall flat (at one point, a 200-year-old vampire compliments Rachel by saying, "You're a happening chick, dudette!"). Those who enjoyed Sands's previous paranormal comedy of errors may eke a little enjoyment from these pages, but this isn't something vampire fans will want to sink their teeth into.

this is the 2nd book in the Argueneau series. This is about the 3rd youngest son, Etianne, of Marguerite. I thought it was good. I like the way the author has created the vampires in this series so far. They are human for the most part and I find it very interesting. I liked the characters and how they had a hard time decided if the other one was in love with them or not. I recommend this book if you like vampire love stories that aren't full of killing. It also have a good epilogue that has be excited to read the third and forth book.

quirky twist on vampire stories.

Per the usual, totally predictable and silly, but satisfies a deep yet somewhat embarassing craving for mind candy.

An amazing story, has it all humor, a little suspense and of course romance. Reading as these two get to know each other is a good use of time. I love Ms. Sands and this is an example of her at her best!

I love Lynday Sands books they are quick and fun to read. The characters are likable and enjoyable to read. The series gives you the hint of suspense yet warm fuzzy endings.
ONCE AGAIN IF YOU LIKE VAMPIRE LOVE STORIES YOU WILL ENJOY THESE BOOKS
This is a pretty funny vampire series! Read Single White Vampire next to keep up with this amusing paraormal family.
Usually books like this are intersting, but I never did read another by this author
A cute and funny Lynsay Sands Argeneau Vampire book. Fun book to read.
Love the entire series
Great light read. This went fast too. A sweet love story in the second book of this series. Etienne Argeneau is a vampire with a crazed stalker. He ends up dead a couple of times in the morgue from this lunatic. Rachel is the girl on the nightshift who ends up dead herself when she tries to save Etienne's corpse from being beheaded by the fruitloop. When Etienne wakes he is so stricken by her efforts he turns Rachel to save her using his only chance to make a life mate. This was more romantic than hot and steamy, but I enjoyed it.
I truly enjoyed this book! I love the way Ms. Sands adds humor in a big way to her story. Kinda makes you want to be a child of the night! Ya know?!
I did enjoy this book. It was an easy read. It had the classic Sands humor. I would recommend this book. I am usually not the vampire book type, but this series is funny.
Fun story with good characters. Perfect summer read!
This Second in the Argeneau series gives the Story of Etienne and Rachel. I found it humorous and readable, although it does show that Lindsey Sands has improved her technique in the later books, with the characters fleshing out. It did get me in the mood to read the rest of the series in order again.
Rachel Garret woke surprised. All she'd wanted was to get off the night shift at the morgue, now here she was in a strange place, naked!
Funny romance. Loved it!
A good quick beach read. A little different than books 1 and 3 in the way Rachel (the human) gets turned by Etienne. I liked the character of Pudge too. Enjoyable. I gave it 4 stars.
The first book that I ever read in the Argeneau series by Lynsay Sands. It got me hooked on not only the Argeneau's but all the other books the author has written.
Cute, sweet, and funny.
Part of Lynsay Sands' vampire series. This is the story of Etienne and Rachel Garrett.
Light, fun read
A very fun, romantic vampire love story...I read it in one sitting!
Excellent book. Loved all the characters. There wasn't a dull moment in any part of this story. This was my first Lynsay Sands book and now I'm totally addicted.
although a little predictable, this was a fun read.
This book was a lot of fun.It contains a very quirky vampire family. This series would be a good one to try if you wanted to avoid anything the least bit scary. I can't wait to read the next one.
I love the vampire series
Good book.
I was hopeful after reading the other reviews...but...this book definitely fell flat for me. It felt like the whole book just dragged...you keep waiting for it to get better. The steamy stuff was scattered about just to kind of keep you pushing through it.
I will say the concept introduced by the author of Vampirism being caused by a virus introduced in Atlantis times was very interesting to me. I love that idea. Other than that, at most it was just an ok story line with ok characters. Not one I would keep in my collection to re-read later.

I love all of the books in this series. Can't wait for more.
Etienne Argeneau's three hundred years of bachelorhood were at an end. Either that, or he'd be forever alone. He could only "turn" one human in his lifetime, and most of his kind reserved that power for creating a life mate. If he turned the wrong woman...But what choice did he have? He had to save Rachel Garrett. He didn't know her very well, but the beautiful coroner had saved his life. To save hers, he would make her immortal.
Rachel Garrett awoke surprised. All she'd wanted was to get off the night shift at the morgue; now here she was staggering to her feet naked and in a strange place. But everything would be all right. She'd just make like a bat out of-- Then she saw the man of her dreams emerging from his...coffin? And the look in his bright silver eyes said they'd be spending a lot of time together. She just hoped he tasted as good as he looked.

Fun read.
Lynsay Sands write a great story!
Enjoyed the book.
Loved it. Funny and a fast read.
great book
Her twist on vampires are interesting and humorous
I like the series. However, Laurell Hamilton is stil my favorite.
Very cute.
the book was funny
A good read
Nice read
A fun, light series.
Funny and sexy!
A great read!
I put off reading this one for so long because I thought it would be brooding & angsty, & instead, it was fun & fast-paced, & I'm glad I bought it & finally read it.
When you're immortal, the last thing you should have to worry about is dying, but Etienne Argeneau manages to find himself on the coroner's slab twice in a matter of weeks...& the last time, his killer follows him to the morgue to finish the job.
When the beautiful coroner is murdered trying to save the corpse with a heartbeat lying on her table, he saves her life in return. Life with his newly turned immortal vampiress who just happens to be his life-mate, & the constant threat from his would-be-killer who is having a bit of an identity crisis (should he wear his fangs & cape, or carry the stakes & holy water??) makes Etienne's life the most interesting it's been in the past 350 years!

Not a big fan of this series.
Diana C. (princessdiana34691) reviewed Love Bites (Argeneau Vampires, Bk 2) on + 361 more book reviews
always a good read.
This was a cute vampire story but there's not a whole lot to it.
The first of her vampire series over the Aregeneau family. Over all the whole series was interesting. I think she's a good writer.
