I enjoyed reading this cozy mystery. It was the first book I have read from this author but I am going to look for more. If you like cozy mysteries with a hint of paranormal than I would recommend this book.
I've never quite figured out why Dorothy Bodoin's books havent caught on. I truly enjoy them. The ones I've read, including this one, are set in a small town in Michigan and in a Victorian neighborhood new the downtown area. The main character is a single teacher, new to town, and has bought an old house where a woman died on Valentine's Day after eating poisened cherry tarts that were a gift to her by some unknown person. The murder remains unsolved. Linnet (our heroine) is having trouble with some rowdy boys in her class who have threatened her life with a gun and at home her phone that isn't hooked up to the phone service keeps ringing at odd hours with someone warning her of approaching danger, a and other things keep happening to make her think the house is haunted. No one else can hear the phone ringing. This is a stay up at night mystery! I recommend it.
Nice quick read by one of my favorite authors. Cozy mystery that held my interest thru out.
