I have read this book over and over and over to all my four children. The eldest is now 28, the youngest 17 and they all remember it fondly. Now I read it to my precious granddaughter... I love them forever...
Those who think this book is strange or sentimental hogwash must have hearts of stone.

My daughter brought this book home from the library when she was in first grade... she is 19 now. I was a crying mess whenever I read it but I love it. I buy it for a baby shower gift every time... now I am picking up a copy for my daughter... so I can read it to my new grandson.

I don't believe that this book was meant to show love as an obsession. I think it is more a symbolic type thing-showing how much love the mother has for her son. I dont think it is supposed to be taken so literally. That is what makes this a cute book. This book is so heartwarming and loveable. I had this book read to me when I was little and now I read it to my little ones. Sometimes it actually gets me misty eyed. You can feel the love and so will whomever you read it to. Great story and I have always loved it and always will!

I highly recommend this book for every mother's library. This is a poignant book detailing a mother's love for her child through stages of his life from a baby to adulthood. It never fails to bring tears to my eyes and a catch in my voice when I share it with my children. Every mother will relate to the beautiful feelings it conveys.

I cry everytime I read this book to my kids, they watch me waiting to see if I can make it to the end without crying! But a must have for every new mom!

Someone gave me this book when my kids were very small. I read it to them, but today when my oldest is 16 and youngest 4 it means so much more. I still remind my 12 yo son of the words the mother sings, and tell him I'm like that mom, he'll never be to big for me to rock & sing to. Beautiful book for all children!

I read this book to all of my kids when they were toddlers (and even older) because they loved it so much. I must admit it choked me up at the end most every time and I still can't always get through it without a tear.
As my kids reached their pre-teen years, they each have pulled out old books from their childhood and this is definitely a favorite for each of them.

I bought this book for every one of my boys when they were born and plan to get another one just so I can give a copy over to my oldest when he turns 16. I give one every time a friend has a baby. Just love the message.

Love You Forever is a very touching and sweet book to read to young children. It is the story of a mother and her son and no matter how rude or rowdy her son is she loves him.

My mother died when I was 14. She read this book to me every night when she tucked me in. Now I do the same with my son. What better message could you send to your child than "I'll love you forever, I'll like you for always, as long as I am living, my baby you'll be."

Every child wants to be loved unconditionally. This book is one way of letting them know they are loved unconditionally with humor. I am with the reviewer who thinks those who don't like this book haven't thought it through. The scenes such as the mother climbing up the ladder into the grown sons house are not meant to be taken literally but are humor. Something for the mother and the child to laugh at. Sort of a "Would you do that mom?" "Sure I would I love you that much." moment. I have three copies of this book, One for each family of grandchildren and one to keep at my house to read to them here.

See if you can read this to your child without bursting into tears. It's a sweet story of a baby growing up and his mother's love.
A couple of things disturb me about this book, though: first off, where's the dad? Next, isn't it a little weird that the mom rocks her ADULT son as he sleeps? Maybe it's just my cynical attitude, but those are the only things that are wrong with this book, in my opinion.
The above doesn't keep me from getting teary every time my 3-year-old requests this book. It's very cute and almost poetic to read. It's not your typical Munsch story.

This is such a touching book. I gave a copy to my mother a few years back on mother's day. It goes from the mother holding her son, rocking, singing to him through all life's stages until at the end the son is holding his mom, rocking, singing to her. Very, very moving! Perfect for births, graduations, mother's day. Beautiful!

Cute childrens story made for adults anout a young man and his childhood-sweet, endearing book.
The back reads:
LOVE YOU FOREVER
A young woman holds her newborn son and looks at him lovingly. Softly she sings to him:
I'll love you forever,
I'll like you for always,
As long as I'm living
my baby you'll be.
This is the story of how that little boy goes through the stages of childhood and becomes a man.
It's also about the enduring nature of parents' love and how it crosses generations.
Love You Forever is a book that both children and adults will enjoy-over and over again.

I remember reading this book to my children when they were very young. The picture on the front cover looks so much like my middle son when he was about a year old, it's almost scary. This is one of my all time favorite childrens books. It is so touching, I can never get through the end without tearing up. Love this book!!
Honestly, I cried when I read this book. It's sweet and emotional, and funny at the same time! Try not to take it too seriously - it is after all, a children's book. Of course, no woman is going to drive across town with a ladder to climb into her adult son's room to rock him and sing a lullaby! I'd recommend this book.
The 1st time I read this book I cried and cried. I love it. It is very special
Super cute book. Kids and I all love it!
This is a touching book about a mother's love for her son as he matures into a man and a parent himself.
I think this is just about the creepiest children's book I've ever read! It starts out sweet but ends with a mother stalking her grown child. The first time I heard it was at my daughter's kindergarten graduation. Half the audience was smiling and the other half was grimacing. Compulsive obsessive love is not a good thing!
I loved this book! It's very sweet, and I enjoy teaching my son about the various stages we go through in life, and how a family loves each other through thick and thin. The only problem...I cry every time I read it! :-) But my son absolutely loves it.
Sorry, but I just find this book kind of creepy. The illustrations of the mother snaking across the floor give me the wiggins. I'd much rather read Guess How Much I Love You, Just in Case You Ever Wondered, or Goodnight Moon to my kids.
Wonderful heartwarming book.
Even thinking about this book made me cry before I had my daughter... hello flood gates post baby! It's a great story about a mommy's love for her son at every age and stage of his life.... A very cute book for the strong =)
This is one of the best books I've ever read. It totally expresses the love that a mother has for child. No matter how young or old her child is and it also shows that We as parents teach our children more with our actions that we ever really know.
THE FIRST TIME I READ THIS BOOK I CRIED IF YOU HAVE CHILDREN NO MATTER THERE AGE I WOULD ADVISE TO HAVE ON YOUR KEEPER SHELF.
I DO

I can never get through reading this book to my children without all of us ending up in tears at the end!
every family needs this one--for parents as much as for little ones
This is one of the sweetest children's books ever written. Be prepared when you read it though, or you'll be crying halfway through!

Very sweet book!
This is the most heart warming story it makes me teary-eyed everytime I read it.
Love it.
My favorite book! I have an extra copy! Received 2 after my son was born!
A "must-read" over and over again!
Great book for kids who are just starting to want to be read to.
Beautiful story of bond between mother and son
One of my family's all-time favorite books.
Wonderful book!!!
A book every parent needs to have.
it is a very loving tall of a mother rocker her son to sleep. I does get a bit... odd. How she climbs the ladder to rock him. But overall I think is a nice book
wonderful book.
This book is so cute! It's one of my favorite kid books.
Creepy book. Especially if you come from a co-dependent family. I get the sweet intentions, but it hit too close to home in a bad way for us. I gave away my daughter's copy.
Classic children's book.
Great book. The circle of life. Makes me cry everytime I read it.
This is a poignant story detailing the love between a parent and their child.
I cried the first 2 times I read it to elementary school classes. I found a bunch of tough 3rd grade boys singing it to each other afterward.
I know this gets a ton of good reviews, but I found a book about parents and children crawling into each others lives at all points to hold them while they slept so they could recreate an idealized vision of family ...creepy.
My kids loved this book when they were little and loved it. One day I will read it to my grandchildren. What I got from it was it let my children know that no matter what I am always there for them.
I loved reading this book to my boys. They also loved the singing parts. One of my favorite bedtime books to read.
I do not consider this book to be a good piece of literature for a child, but just an overly sentimental, strange story that appeals to co-dependent adults.I read about one womans son having nightmares after she read this book to him. An elderly woman using a ladder to sneak into her grown son's house through his bedroom window, then crawl across the floor to sneak up on him so she can hold him and sing him a lullaby without waking him up is just plain weird, creepy, sick, and bazaar. I really do NOT recommend this book. Yuck !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There are so many wonderful children's books available. This simply is NOT one of them.Thumbs down.
I would not recommend this book. I have always found it incredibly disturbing. This is not LOVE it is OBSESSION. I cannot accept or condone a book that seems to perpetuate the myth that a woman is nothing without a child and if a woman does have a child, her identity is only as a mother. There are better books out there about parental love that manage to leave out the sexism.
