This book was one that a friend gave me that had been discarded from the library. I was very intrigued by the storyline of an immigrant who was so driven that he almost lost everything. Very good book.

Hillary weaves a beautiful story that blends Europeans and Americans with international locations and a plot that twists and turns to create a book that is hard to put down. I loved it!

Back cover: Beautiful Ali Craig had to tell her daughter, Bobbi, that shattering truth to save her life. It was a secret she'd hidden for nineteen years -- and one that began three decades before, when a desperate Jewish refugee entrusted his life to a Swiss boy and formed a bond that would carry them both into a reckless passion and terrible betrayal. From a breathtaking escape out of Nazi Germany right into the diamond-studded Grand Prix racing circuits, they would become two powerful, sensual men addicted to success, risk, speed ... and to the one woman whose secret could change both their lives forever.

From Library Journal
A trio of memorable characters is at the center of this first novel. Andreas and Daniel first met in war-torn Europe, where one courageous act of a child created a debt of honor and laid the foundation for a complex adult friendship. Separated by the war, they are reunited as successful men. The third member of the trio is Andreas's beautiful wife, Alexandra. The three are bound by past and present secrets, as well as ties of friendship, love, and passion. Together they find great success, face deep tragedy, and narrowly escape being caught in a circle of past mistakes. A well-written mixture of romance, adversity, and glamour, this novel should appeal to a wide readership. Norman is an author to watch. Barbara E. Kemp, Washington State Univ. Lib., Pullman
