It was a good read like the historicals I read so long ago...the fighting between the h/h got a bit tiring though.

When Lord Nicholas Eden grabs his mistress off the street and takes her to his home, he is shocked to find he has abducted the wrong woman. Regina Ashton had just left her uncle's home when someone threw a blanket over her and swooped her up onto his horse. Now Nicholas and Reggie are laughing about it as he returns her to her uncle's home. They aren't laughing the next day when the gossip has made it's way around town and Reggie is on the verge of ruin. Nicholas has no alternative than to ask Regina to marry him; even though he knows a secret in his past could make her hate him.
I read this book when it first came out approximately 20 years ago and loved it. I thought I'd revisit it by listening to the audio book on my commute to work. This time around I still like the story, but I had a very hard time with Nicholas' idiotic actions throughout the book. I just wanted to hit him over the head and knock some sense into him. What I still enjoyed about the book was the banter between Regina's uncles and their united front against Nicholas. Characters like Tony and James are what made this series so popular. Since I like this series so much, I am still rating this book 4.5 stars. If I was reading it as a standalone for the first time, I probably would not be rating this book so high.

Her life changed forever the night she was abducted from a dark London street and carried to a stanger's townhouse. At first Regina Ashton was amused, then outraged at the arrogance of this bronzed, golden-curled seducer who so deftly taught her a woman's passion...and a woman's shame. Though he had dragged her good name through the mud, Reggie knew she would never be able to forget Nicholas Eden. A painful secret from his past hardened his heart against Reggie completely. They faced tragic misundersandings and storm-tossed dangers that almost destroyed everything they once shared.

Another great Malory novel.
