This inspirational romance tells the story of Mara Rosemond and Brock Barnett. He had been her late husband's best friend, and she blames him for her husband's death. He offers to marry her to provide for her and her baby, and an unlikely bond grows between them. She struggles to overcome her bitterness, and comes to realize that Brock is also battling his own emotions. A honest portrayal of hurt, forgiveness, and joy, this quick read is quite touching.

This was an easy reading book....but a good story. It catches you from the very beginning and just throws you into the story.

I don't get this book. Mara's husband dies and his best friend Brock feels responsible so he convinces her to marry him so he can take care of her. Ok that's real nice of him I guess. But why did he have to marry her? If it's his best friends wife and he wants to help her why not just help her? I just don't get it.

A book about what happens when the one you need the most is the one you least want to be with. Her husband dies in a climbing accident with his best friend, leaving Mara pregnant and alone. When the best friend finds out about the pregnancy he demands that they get married so she and the baby will be taken care of because he thinks its his fault her husband is dead. These two must learn to love one another and live together, overcoming their pasts, separately and as they have to do with each other. Can they overcome the past and their own personalities, so their family has a chance at a future?

Perhaps not Catharine Palmer's best romance novel, but enjoyable nonetheless : )
