This is an uncomfortable read. It is fabulous story telling, and the themes are ones that need to be told. But it is not warm and fuzzy, and nor does it need to be to be told well. Siri Mitchell is an incredible author and her writing is good. She delves into the harder sides of characters lives and deals with stories that need to be told in a manner where many would just walk away from the pain and hardships. The structure took a bit to get used to and for a while was driving me crazy with jumping from one narrator to another with no hints as to which person's thoughts you were hearing as a reader.

However this book is not all prickles and stings, there are the shimmers of light one needs to grab onto to keep on going. One must grab them though and not let them pass on by. In my opinion, this is one of those stories where after reading it, you do not just get up and go back into a loud world, but you sit and contemplate and let what has been experienced soak in.

Love's Pursuit is a perfect title for this book. Through out you assume things to be one way, yet reading the back cover blurb another, and then as plot thickens and other things change you assume another. Yet to me, in reality, the title is meant in a different frame of view entirely. The first half of this book was a bit for me to trudge through, but I am so glad that I did and I do recommend the book. I recommend when you get to parts that you might want to put it down, that you keep on going, because the gift that you are given by accomplishing this read are well worth your effort.

This is the first of Siri Mitchell's books I have read. I wasn't sure what to expect, but Wow, was I impressed. Once I got into Susannah's story, I could not put it down. The story pulls you in and you don't want to leave. And there is a somewhat unexpected ending as well. The characters aren't cookie cutter stereotypical characters and that is part of what makes this story come alive.

I am generally not fond of first person narratives, but I really enjoy Siri Mitchell. This book seemed to flow better than "A Constant Heart" and I was confused less often about who the narrator was. It was very well written. I was personally not fond of the plot twist at the end and would probably not read the book again, but I enjoyed it the first time through.

This is the first title that I've read by Siri Mitchell, but it won't be the last. I devoured this book in one day and could not put it down. The story is told from the perspective of two different women in Puritan New England. It told of each of their love stories, but also the underlying story of God's love for each of us. This was a great story that I didn't want to end.

This was my 2nd book by Siri Mitchell that I have read. I tried reading "The Cubicle Nextdoor" and it wasn't to my taste but LOVED this one. A very surprising twist at the end that I was not expecting at all. Highly recommended!

This was my first book to read written by Siri Mitchell. I am intrigued with the time period, yet I did Not know what to expect. I found it interesting in the style of writing - switching narrators and giving different perspectives. There is a stark contrast of their simple lifestyles, plain dress, and expectations of "proper behavior". It made me feel their sense of confinement, frustration, and need to break free but without knowing how. I was surprised with the ending.
