The hero, Jehan is a poor knight who wants to win lands & power no matter what the cost, and he siezes a castle and property that is supposed to be the dowry of Alienor, the heroine. Alienor's father captures Jehan and brings him back to his keep as a prisoner. Alienor, to protect her family from the wrath of the court, nurses Jehan and helps him recover from the wounds that her father inflicted on him (although she's angry that her betrothal has been delayed yet again, thanks to Jehan's actions). The two have a strong attraction and the story just takes off from there. It's filled with action and strongly romantic, although Jehan's constant ambition to be wealthy and powerful keep him apart from Alienor. This book has a strong plot & well-drawn characters. I recommend this to those who want to read an involving medieval romance that doesn't always seem it's going to resolve itself in the usual happy-ever-after.
