#9 in the JD Robb/Nora Roberts "In Death" series.
Fast moving terrorist plot hatched by our own citizens. "We are Cassandra" deliver cryptic clues and messages about their intended targets, as well as impossible demands, to the police, headed by our Heroine, Eve Dallas. To make matters more complex, her assistant's (Peabody) visiting brother becomed inadvertently drawn into the conflict through a conniving woman, and as usual, it takes both Dallas and her husband Roarke to save the day.
More Action oriented than even the usual "In Death" novel, I liked this one quite a bit! A bit of political intrigue and the usual people-who-are-not-who-they-seem-to-be.

A novel in the futuristic series. New York City cop Eve Dallas returns to face her most ingenious foe---a "secret admirer" who taunts her with letters...and kills without mercy.

Terrorists are targeting New York City landmarks and Lt. Eve Dallas has to stop them. A group calling themselves "Cassandra" contacts Eve to let her know that they are going to do some major damage to the city. Now Eve is racing against the clock to find out who is behind the bombings. Along with this investigation, Eve and Peabody are investigating a murder that looks clear cut, and also looking into the death of a snitch.
This is a great edition to Robb's Eve Dallas series. All the usual people are involved in the investigations (Roarke, Feeney, Dr. Mira), but Peabody and McNab are the highlight of the book for me. My rating: 4.5 Stars.

9th in the Eve Dallas Series. I am hooked.
This book was just as entertaining as the others in the series
A very quick read. Typical of the JD Robb series. You do not need to read the whole series to enjoy this book.
I enjoyed this 9th installment in the Death series. This sees Eve pitting her skills against a terrorist group going by the moniker of Cassandra, who are set upon destroying symbols of perceived capitalist greedmongers. There is a Side story of Peabody and her brother which sees Eve juggling more than one murder and the ties that bind all of them together. Peabody and McNabb continue their game of romantic cat and mouse, further complicating the mix. Topic is relevant in the past, present and in the future. It takes all of her wits, with a bit of help from the ever present Roarke to solve this case before more lives are lost. It did not disapoint.
J. D. Robb series in Death was the greatest series I've read. Do yourself a favor and get the whole series and read them from book one to the end. The main charter, Eva Dalas seems to catch the least little detail to solve the murders. I loved reading them. They were full of action and sex. The only thing I didn't like were the F words. I just didn't let the words register I skipped them.
I love powerful Lt. Eve Dallas and how the complex New York City crimes are solved. If you don't wanna bite her husband, don't read these books! Nora Robert's best writing is as JD Robb in this "In Death" series of some 30+ stories to date. I collect all of the JD Robb books, but skip the Roberts, whose stories are not as tight as those about Lt. Eve Dallas - ass kicker! If the future of New York City is like this, I fear these futuristic killers who are sneaky and complex.
At exactly 7:30p.m., Walter Pettibone arrived home to find more than a hundred friends and family shouting, "Surprise!" It was his birthday. Although he had known about the planned event for weeks, the real surprise was yet to come. At 8:45p.m., a woman with emerald eyes and red hair handed him a glass of champagne. One sip of birthday bubbly, and he was dead.
The woman's name is Julie Dockport. No one at the party knew who she was. But Detective Eve Dallas remembers her all too well. Eve was personally responsible for Julie's incarceration nearly ten years ago. And now, leto out on good behavior, she still has nothing but bad intentions. It appears she wants to meet Dallas again-in a reunion neither will forget...

I always think whatever I've just read of this series is the best yet. This is no exception. Loved it.
Eve comes up against a terrorist group determined to blow up New York.
Great book!!
I love the characters in this series of futuristic cop books by Nora Roberts writing as JD Robb.
Another great entry (the ninth) in J.D. Robb's addictive Eve Dallas series.
Another Great J D Robb book!
An unknown bomber is stalking New York City. He is sending Eve Dallas taunting letters promising to wreak mass terror and destruction among the "corrupt masses." And when his cruel web of deceit and destruction threatens those she cares for most, Eve fights back. It's her city...it's her job... and it's hitting too close to home. Now, in a race against a ticking clock, Eve must make the pieces fit... before the city falls.
Favorite series. The furture, love, mystery... what more can you ask for.
I love all the "In Death" series by J.D. Robb!

If you don't care for Nora Roberts BUT love Mystery/Dark Thrillers with a side of romance and a dash of comedy - then I think you'll love J.D. Robb's ... In Death series written by Nora Roberts alter ego.
I won't go into the details of the books but will tell you this: Superb character development, continuity of the story line (which means you really need to read the books in order although they can stand alone) is top notch, the relationships that are webbed and weaved together throughout each page are phenomenal and let's the reader 'really' get to know the characters.

great book in this series
In 21st-century New York City, tough-as-nails cop Eve Dallas can survive a bombing, seduce her husband, and outsmart a terrorist--all on four hours of sleep. In this latest installment of the In Death series, author J.D. Robb (a.k.a. Nora Roberts) casts our heroine against an enigmatic group of terrorists named Cassandra. With no clear motivation or demands, Cassandra feeds on the thrill of senseless killing and the calculated destruction of Eve's world.
Relying on her own brawn and brains, as well as that of her aid Peabody and her husband Roarke, Eve begins to unravel a mystery that began decades before. When the killer's threats land close to home, Eve knows she has no choice but to gamble her own life for the chance to save her city as well as her loved ones.
J.D. Robb's combinations of mystery, suspense, and romance keep the fans of this series clamoring for more, and Loyalty in Death has equal amounts of each. While the passion between Eve and Roarke is as good as ever, the introduction of a new romantic element certainly turns up the heat and is a welcome twist. Though the evil-terrorist-in-NYC theme has been done before (most recently in The Siege), these beloved characters put up a good fight, and keep us glued to the pages. --
