Elizabeth Sims just wrote her 1st mainstream mystery, The Actress. Lucky Stiff is parr of the Lillian Byrd series which isn't mainstream, but considered a "genre" mystery because Lillian happens to be a lesbian journalist/amateur detective. I emailed Sims who was gracious enough to respond to me. She loves this series too, but just can't make enough money writing for a "genre" market. There are only 5 or 6 LB books & even though she got great reviews, the money from small presses just doesn't allow a writer to write full-time & support him/herself anymore.
Please don't miss The Lillian Byrd series because you're afraid to try something new. Sims is a wonderful writer & I will certainly miss her Lillian Byrd. But I plan to also read The Actress because I'm sure whatever she writes is smart, funny & just plain good writing.
