This is more romance than mystery. If you're hoping for a really really good suspense novel - skip it! It's not as good as her more current books.

Psychologist Serena Sheridan has come back to the small Louisiana town where she'd been raised -- and where her grandfather has suddenly gone missing. Successful, ambitious, beautiful, Serena always found the darker world of the bayous far less predictable -- and far more tracherous -- than the life she'd chosen.

And for help, she must turn to a man as mysterious and dangerous as the backcountry itself: Lucky Doucet. he's a man with a apast littered with secrets best left concealed -- the perfect guide to lead Serena into a world of dazzling seduction, sudden violence, and raw natural beauty. From the exotic French Quarter to the most remote bayou, they would follow a trail of corruption and betrayal to a showdown that would require they trust not only their own deepest instincts for survival -- but each other.

-- Who wouldn't mind getting stuck in a bayou with a handsome man with a Louisiana accent named "Lucky"? --

I love Tami's Southern books... Love the men, with their "Sugar" and "Darlin", just melts me and I feel good reading them, this is one of her early books, and not as good in the suspence department as others, but good anyway

My favorite Tami Hoag book by far! It's contemporary, but has a real historical feel to it. Lucky Doucet is a wonderful character, so richly portrayed you can practically hear and feel him through the book. Sexy as all get-out. *And* it's a real page-turner. Brilliantly written.

Tami Hoag is great, I'm so glad I discovered her! This book is great - you may not want to pick it up until you've got a few hours though, it's a serious page turner. Beware: this book certainly gets steamy in parts!
The hero of the book, Lucky Doucet...oh my,my, my nearly convinced me bon-bons and romance novels might not be such a bad thing after all then, I got a grip and decided to just move to New Orleans. lol ;)
Enjoy!

LUCKYS LADY by Tami Hoag Psychologist Serena Sheridan comes back to the small Louisiana town where shed been raised to find her grandfather missing and her twin sister planning to sell the family estate to finance her husbands political career. She hires Lucky Doucet, a handsome Cajun with a past littered with secrets to guide her into the swamp to find her grandfather. Soon their relationship is as steamy as the surrounding bayous, an attempt is made on Serenas life, and wellFirst published in 1992, this book is categorized as a romantic suspense novel, with more emphasis on the romance than the suspense. Ms. Hoag is an author who has grown and improved with time. I didnt like this as much as her later works, but still not bad.

"...this has become my favorite Hoag book.
Lucky's Lady tells the tale of Serena Seridian's return to her home for a visit and her strange meeting with the roughest man in the town, Lucky Doucet. Though these two seem to hate each other, the tension between them couldn't be cut with a knife. However, the story of these two unlike people falling in love does not come without a price as Serena's sister, Shelby, plans to get rid of the family estate and declare their grandfather incompetent. The reasoning for all of this becomes more apparent as the novel progresses and soon Serena finds herself seeking Lucky's help to save not only her family estate but the swamps of bayou Louisiana and even her life.
This book is one that cannot be put down and is charged with its hot romance, mystery, betrayal, haunting notions from the past, murder, and more." amazon review

Publisher's Note
As wild and mysterious as the Louisiana swamp he called home, Lucky Doucet was a dangerously attractive Cajun no woman could handle. His solitary life left no room for the likes of elegant Serena Sheridan, but Lucky couldn't deny her desperate need to find her missing grandfather. He would help her, but nothing
more--yet once he felt the lure of the flaxen-haired beauty, an adventurer like Lucky couldn't help playing with fire.

Serena felt unnerved, aroused, and excited by the ruggedly sensual renegade whose gaze burned her with its heat, but she did not dare tangle with a rebel whose intensity was overwhelming, who claimed his heart was off limits? Deeper and deeper they traveled into the steamy bayou, until with one electrifying kiss her resistance melted into liquid desire. And the devilish rogue found he'd do anything to make Serena Lucky's Lady.
