gripping & engaging, this is a great series. this mystery concerns two missing teens who have joined a strange cult.
The eighth Milt Kovak mystery. Good read.

This was an alright book, but then again, mysteries aren't really my thing. It's a quick enough read, and you might like it better than I did. I just didn't relate particularly well to any of the characters. Such is life!
Milt Kovak has problems in his position as sheriff of Prophesy County. A dumb deputy, ex-wives, and now, 2 missing teens. Kidnapping or cult brainwashing? Or is ex-wife #2, whose son is one of the missing teens, overreacting? He'll figure it out and avoid entanglements with the ex-, mesquite trees, tall fences and angry bulls. A fun read!
Milt Kovak's string of bad luck with women is not something he likes to dwell upon. Milt suspects the boy is hiding...or worse dead. Amanda's naked body is found so Milt puts to work his tried and true tactic of police detection : beating the bushes til something flies out--like a killer.
