These books are great fun! If you've never come across a Maggody book, do yourself a favor and indulge.
The Maggody Chief of Police is Arly Hanks, the long suffering daughter of Ruby Bee (who insists on aiding and abetting on her own terms). The series follows a pretty set cast of recurring chartacters, including some of the most interesting personalities you'll ever read about. The fun comes more from the efforts to solve the mystery rather than from the mystery itself.
Maggody in Manhattan - A pure fish out-of-water story. A cooking contest trip with contestant Ruby Bee (Mom)to New York turns more dangerous than high cholesterol. After Ruby Bee is arrested for attempted murder, Arly comes to rescue her and finally, to solve a real murder.

Ruby Bee Hanks visits New York for the finals of the Krazy KoKo-Nut cook-off, but ends up in jail for shooting a naked man in her bed. Joan hess put's out the BEST funny.. mystery series i've ever read I loved them All... a must for the cozy mystery fan.

Great book! Very funny in all the mannerisms and conversation... laughed out loud many times! And the mystery 'who dun it' part was great too.
