In the summer before the US enters WW I, a mysterious ship appears in Frenchman's Bay, Bar Harbor, Maine. This novel is about that magical summer--the way the townsfolk welcome the people on the ship and develop relationships with each other. Some of those relationships will last, some will not but the summer will always be remembered. That's the basic plot of this book, but for me, it's so much more. It's a book about a special place--as anyone who travels to Bar Harbor knows--and about those special times when we are innocent of what lies ahead.
