What an odd book! But what an author for Prose! So well written, tight interesting sentences and lovely descriptions of place. The story line goes forward in an unusual way. I suppose if I had one pause it would be the content, but even the content is handled rather well. I really enjoyed the read. Think this was this fellows first book. I will read him again, just to see if he can continue the odd but strangely interesting pace!

When I started reading this book I found I couldn\'t put it down. It is about a color blind female photojournalist and the murder of a friend. She begins to look for clues through the lens of her camera only to find that her own father might possibly have a hand in the murder. Is was well written and over the story line two mysteries unfold. Keeps you guessing until the end of the book. Has mystery, suspense, thrills and even romance between the main character and a dashing dark eyed doctor that falls into her path because of the investigation. Definately a must read.

"A strange seductive story...as eerie as a midnight walk in the fog," according to the NY Times Book review. It is a story of Kay Farrow, she is a photographer canvassing the seedy underworld of San Francisco. Colorblind (she can only see tones of black and white no "real" color), she is a photo journalist shooting only in black and white, her keen, talented eye makes her work unique.
This is a novel that brought the feelings and ambiance of San Francisco alive for me. I haven't lived there since the 60's but some of my strongest memories reside during that time. Author, David Hunt, brought many of them back full force. If you love San Francisco with all her good and bad this is worth reading for that alone. Then to top it off, the story held me spell-bound.

I loved it and can hardly wait to begin his second book, Trick of Light (Kay Farrow, Bk 2) (aka Trick Shot). Though I need to take a brief respite from the intensity of his story telling. As far as I can tell he hasn't written another Kay Farrow book yet.

New York Times Notable book. One of the best I have read in ages. The protagonist is a photographer, totally color blind, who lives and photographs in a black and white world. The story is suspenseful and well told, though a bit brutal at times. The author knows San Francisco well and provides ample detail on both the gritty and sophisticated side of the City by the Bay. A good read.

David Hunt was a "new-to-me" author.... This was a difinite 'can't-put-it-down" read. Held me to the edge of my chair until the very end. Now I'm looking for more!
