If you're looking for an all-action, shoot'em up military story, this is NOT your book. If you want a VERY realistic story of the inside war in Iraq, this hits that point often and hard. The sheer stress of these men's jobs being built around "you getting hit first" by ambushes or, VBIEDs or, IEDs would crack even the toughest US fighting men and women after only one ride with these ultra-brave men in a convoy escort role....and these Heroes did it over 200 times without losing one of their own or, any escorted personnel or, shipments. The story could have been more concise, "palace intrigues" and desk jockey jealousies were given too much time, but it completed the circle of the story. Office politics are one thing, usually about petty crap, but this 12 got constant dung flung at them for doing a job that was incredibly vital, essential and they did it without proper equipment, firearms or, supplies.

Their main reward was the appreciation of all those who did not die badly at the hands of the cowardly insurgents. Typical US Military though...throw good men into extreme harm's way on a constant daily basis and, then allow giant amounts of hyper-stress and anger issues to build up to work away at them and then not help them properly deflate and acclimate before letting them try to deal with it on their own back in society. MSG Lynch & The Mighty M12, WELL DONE and THANK YOU! YOU GUYS ROCK!
