When a 21st cent. woman meets a 15 cent hunky man it's a story worth reading. Loved it.

This was a big surprise. I got it as a quick, light read and was suprised at how well it's written. The story, too, is clever and the characters interesting. It has a nice bit of history thrown in and a lot of humor. I'm actually looking for more by the writer to see if they hold up next to this one.

I really enjoyed this book. The author did a better job than most at meshing the modern woman's behavior into a repressive medieval era. She avoids creating an overly oppressive environment, or an unbending 20th century heroine. I enjoyed the characters and plot - injected with enough humor to crack a smile, and even giggle a bit.

Really good, though this theme has been done before there were some surprises and made the whole book great.

For the first time, Beth Pudding has a home of her own, even if it is a haunted castle. Blackstone Castle's ghost is reported to be Duncan Angus MacDougall, who has spent the last 600 years trapped between life and death after being cursed by his third wife's gypsy-witch mother. Just when Beth is getting used to having her own personal ghost, a boating accident sends her back in time to the real Duncan, who mistakes her for his fourth wife. Trapped in the past sans her trusty makeup case, Beth is desperate to figure out how to return to the present until she realizes that her love for Duncan might be the key to breaking the curse.

A Gold Heart winner from the Romance Writers of America, Blair's richly imagined tale has all the ingredients of a great love story: a strong heroine with a sharp sense of humor, a deliciously sexy hero, and polished writing. Those who relish romances with a paranormal twist will fall in love with Blair's witty and enchanting debut.

This was an enjoyable book. Beth has traveled back in time and has awaken married to Duncan MacDougall, the ghost who haunted her inherited castle. I liked how Lady Beth was able to win the hearts of her husband and clansmen. It showed that appearances aren't everything. I enjoyed watching the romance between Lady Beth and Duncan develop. There were a few funny moments and the book and some that had me cheering. The only issue I had with the book was that I felt the so-called "Curse" on Duncan was never explained.

This story of Duncan MacDougall is in itself unusual, I have never read a paranormal romance of such, I loved it! I will hopefully be getting the sequel in the near future.

from the back cover:

A Lonely Laird
Duncan MacDougall, the laird of Blackstone, was cursed centuries ago to wander as a ghost within the echoing walls of his island castle- and only one woman can free him. Can it be the new mistress of Blackstone, just arrived from over the sea? Duncan has heard that pretty Miss Elizabeth Pudding is no more than a cook - and she hails from a barbarous land called the Bronx. But she must learn the ways of a lady all the same - and she must stay at Blackstone for six long months to inherit. 'Tis time enough to teach her - and time enough to woo her...

An Enchanting Lady
Beth has seen the handsome specter from the day she crossed the threshold of Blackstone. Duncan MacDougall is a tall, translucent figure with black hair and piercing blue eyes. Yet a mist separates him from the land of the living...a mist as strong as cold steel. It is said that only love can dissolve it - and bring the man of her dreams to warm breathing life...
