Mandingo
Author: Kyle Onstott
Behind the hoop skirts and hospitality, the mint juleps and magnolia blossoms of the Old South was a world few people knew existed - a world of violence, cruelty, greed and lust. MANDINGO brings to vivid life the sounds, the smell, the terrible reality of the slave-breeding farms and plantations where men and women were mated and bred like cattle.

Read this before I was a teenager, my Dad was into this kind of book and I would grab it and read some whenever he laid it down. I remember feeling so naughty reading it, I had no true idea of what slavery was about until this book opened my eyes. Shocking reading for a pre-teen and just as shocking to read it again now that I'm an adult.
