This was an excellent book on the tail end of Soviet Russia. Mark gives a vivid picture of Siberia and the people who lived there at that time. It was hard to put down near the end. There is some stream of consciousness parts, but I think that just lends itself to the book being more poetic. He also gives you a picture of his growing up in Wyoming, which tells you how he is able to do these trips.
