I loved this book! I love the way Hall weaves in and out of time periods, revealing just enough little bits of the future to make you want to see how it all fits together. I also thought it was a very real glimpse into the circumstances, emotions, and social pressures that a young unmarried pregnant girl in the 1960's faced. Her writing is honest and poignant.

I had heard good things about this book. It wasn't at all what I expected, yet I found myself fascinated by the experiences and stories the author chose to share. This is not always an easy book to read -- the ups and downs of life are often painful -- but I am glad that I read this. I would recommend it to anyone.

This is a woman's singular journey and will ring true for anyone who lived through the 1960's or who has felt disconnected from their family. The prose are beautifully written, sometimes almost like poetry. A moving story, all the more so because it is true.
